Piney Woods Alpacas is nestled in a serene surrounding of
pine trees (as you might have guessed) that provide a unique
setting for a small alpaca farm dedicated to improvement of
genetics and fleece with careful care, good health, and selective
breeding.
Our farm is and always will be small enough that alpacas
are not a herd: they are family, each with their own unique
characteristics and personality.

Quality breedings begin with having quality Peruvian huacayas.
Our female alpacas are the daughters of multiple championship
huacaya sires. We carefully select equal or better quality
herdsires for each breeding. The result is an ever increasing
quality of healthy offspring for sale that will bring value
to any farm. View our list of alpacas
for sale or find out more about our alpaca
breeding program.

Are you new to the industry? We'd be happy to give you a
tour our farm, and make suggestions to help you get started.
From farm setup to breeding stock selections, we can provide
the guidance and support you need to get a got start on your
own alpaca herd. Find out more about

Our journey into raising alpacas is typical of 90%
of the stories you will read as you examine farm after
farm. Sick of the congestion, traffic, and hurry of
the city lifestyle (along with the nearing the end of
a long, successful career as an Independent Manufacturer
Representative) we were looking for something that would
give us a relaxed lifestyle and a place for our grandkids
to run and explore. The piney woods of beautiful East
Texas offered such an opportunity.
Pine trees may provide a lot of clean air and beautiful
surrounding, however, they definitely are a very long-term
investment. So the question became: What could we do
with the limited three acres of pasture, combined with
our trees that would provide an income stream as well
as a tax savings in our senior years? After careful
research, alpacas seemed to fill the bill. After visiting
numerous farms and attending a couple of alpaca shows
we learned that the alpaca industry was not only one
of amazing animals, but a community of equally amazing
people.
We learned quickly that you don't just purchase animals
when you buy into this community (whose sole purpose
is to help each other and to improve the American Alpacas
to the finest producers of alpaca fleece in the world)
you buy into a lifestyle that is filled personal satisfaction.
This is why we are delighted to join this community
and offer our clients the same support, mentoring and
concern that others have given us.
